Hive Five Birthday Card

Hello Friends! I am so Hap-Bee you stopped by my blog.

I think shaker cards are so fun to give as well as receive that I decided to make this card one.

For the inside of the card, I used the Ripe Banana Spiffy Speckles cardstock and then I used the Honey Comb Stencil with some Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide. The outside of the card is the Blueberry Smoothie Spiffy Speckles Paper, touched up with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide.

I wanted to build a scene with the Hive Five Stamp set. I didn't want the shaker element to be too big, so I cut out a section using the Reverse Stitched Scalloped Die. For all the elements in the scene, I used stamps from; Hive Five, Magic Messages Spring, and Magic Messages. As I was building the scene, I wanted to fill in some areas with small bees. For the little bees, I used the smallest ant from Crazy Antics and then drew on little wings. For the little flight trails, I used Little Fireflies and Eggstraordinary Easter. I used Copic Markers for all the coloring.

For the sentiment, I used the Big Scripty Words Hot Foil Plate with Lavender Petals Glimmer Hot Foil from Spellbinders. I wanted to make the sentiment dimensional, so I glued six layers together to bulk it up.

I have been in search of a way to document the Copic markers that I use for the different cards I make. I came across Mona Toth's website, craftbymona.info, and she has some great pintables that work just perfect. I keep a stack handy so when I am stamping and coloring, I just grab one. I find it take me less time to stamp and color the samples than it does for me to decide what markers I want to use. You might want to stop by her page and check them out.

Once I was done with the card, it felt a little dull. I used Stardust Stickles to add some sparkle to the flowers, wings and other pieces.

This was such a fun spring card to make. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing day!
